Music to Celebrate the 4th

Held on top of Stamford's Mt. Utsayantha in the Catskills, Music On The Mountain features the homegrown styling of regional performers from George Kilby Jr., Phrog Blues Bank, Jersey Coast, Horseshoe Lounge Playboys and Bovina's own Pispoure. Dinner and fireworks follow this July 5th event from 11 am to 11 pm.  In western New York, the Great Blue Heron Music Festival in Sherman provides live music and dance on 300 acres in the Amish countryside. Foot tapping, body swaying music including Roots, Rock, Zydeco, Blues, old-time & Bluegrass bands are performing. Dance and instrument workshops, as well as plenty of outdoor fun for the family, are planned!  Nearby, Holiday Valley welcomes you to their Ellicottville’s Summer Festival of Arts featuring the Buffalo Philharmonic, fireworks, rock band performance, and a pet parade.

The Seven Years War will be fought at Fort Ticonderoga with 2000 re-enactors living from June 27-29, as they would have during the conflict 250 years ago.  Throughout July and August there will be artillery demonstration daily and the Fife & Drum Corps entertaining with martial music.  More then a restored military fortress, period dressed interpreters, a 30-minute guided tour, a world class museum and the King’s Garden offers you a rich and varied look at our history. From July 4-6, nearly 1000 Living History demonstrators are re-creating the French & Indian War Encampment from 1759.  This siege of Old Fort Niagara includes battle demonstrations, uniform programs, period crafts, vendors set up outside of the military camps.
